The ExacuTrack home confinement system is designed for BI Incorporated of Boulder, CO. It allows sentenced scofflaws to remain at home or be tracked in time and position rather than be jailed. The "client" wears an ankle mounted transmitter which broadcasts to the belt mounted receiver/recording device. The recording device also contains a GPS receiver so that the physical location of the client is recorded. At the end of each day the client must plug the receiver into the base station which then reports the daily activity to the authorities. If he or she has been some place at a time when they were not allowed the authorities are summoned. By using the ExacuTrack (data sheet PDF) the cost to local, state and federal law enforcement agencies is reduced to a small fraction of the per day cost of standard imprisonment and correctional methods.
Key Client Product Benefits -
Our Design Contribution -
KED designed the UHF receiver, antenna and printed circuit board for the belt mounted receiving system. We performed measurements to verify that the receiver meets all FCC part 15 rules. The UHF transmitter and receiver combination provide very high transmission reliability. The radio frequency circuit design with documentation and working prototype hardware was delivered to BI for manufacturing.
